Darker Roots: The New Ombre Trend
Posted by: | CommentsThe newest trend in hair color is darker roots. Finally! Ombre, created by Eva Scrivo, is popping up on heads all over the place. If you are a color treated blonde you might be excited to hear this news. Yes, you can go a little bit longer to touch up. However, Ombre is a shading process. Adding lowlights and highlights is a necessary part of this technique resulting in the perfect combination of shading from roots to ends.
Many women fret over how their hair color will turn out at their next appointment. Will it be light enough or dark enough? Will it have an orange hue or something that’s just not you? Most importantly, how quickly will those roots begin to show? When done properly the color at your roots will be a close shade of your natural color that gradually gets lighter with the lightest color at the ends of your hair.
Talk about saving time. With the popular hair colors we have become accustomed to, we spend hours in the salon having two or more shades of color weaved or foiled in, just to get that natural looking hairstyle. Since this new technique involves shading of solid colors from top to bottom there is no need to piece individual strands or sections with multiple colors, shaving time off of your hair color experience.
If you are hesitant about such a dramatic change in your hair color look try out Sombre. Sombre is a much more gradual version of Ombre. We use less color change from roots to end. A handful of low lights and a balayage bleach technique will complete your look. If you decide you like the Sombre look and want a more noticeable change try Ombre the next time.
We guarantee you will enjoy your new winter look and we will explain the technique as you relax and enjoy your salon time. Call us today (920) 722-2341 or just stop in. Our salon professionals will be happy to discuss your individual stylistic needs.
Just Back From the Haircolor Conference in LA

Throngs of haircolorists met in Los Angeles to attend the ninth annual Energizing Summit. The Summit is sponsored by the American Board of Certified Haircolorists, an organization of haircolorists whose mission is to raise the degree of expertise of haircolorists around the country.
The Energizing Summit is a high-level haircolor conference where individuals learn about the latest techniques and products. Our Co-owner/Stylist Connie Koehnke attended and was thrilled with the number and variety of classes available.
Connie says, “I saw things at the conference I have never seen before, and I have been a stylist for 30-years. The class I enjoyed the most was on the Balayage technique. The number of people teaching this hands-on class made it really easy to learn. (There were two teachers for each student!) I also enjoyed the haircolor forum, where a panel of haircolor experts were willing to answer questions the audience posed to them. The information was amazing. The best part of the conference was that it was not sponsored by any manufacturer, so all of the information was generic, basic hair color theory knowledge to use with any color line.”
“At the end of the Summit I was excited to get back to the Hair Connection in Neenah, to share the knowledge with the rest of our team. There were so many classes I would have enjoyed taking, but didn’t have the time. I would definitely recommend this Summit to any haircolorist.”
