Kelate Shampoo – great for after swimming, removes product build-up, chlorine and minerals.
Vapor Gel – use on wet hair to add some texture, great for curly hair, use on dry hair before thermal styling, or finish your style as a hairspray – this product is humidity resistant
Sea Swell – add body and texture to your hair to help hold your style, also humidity resistant
Luxxtress – put in your hair before swimming to block absorbtion of chlorine into the hair, also great for detangling children’s hair as well as long hair (leave in conditioner), you can even use this as a shaving lotion!

Just Back From the Haircolor Conference in LA
By · Comments
Throngs of haircolorists met in Los Angeles to attend the ninth annual Energizing Summit. The Summit is sponsored by the American Board of Certified Haircolorists, an organization of haircolorists whose mission is to raise the degree of expertise of haircolorists around the country.
The Energizing Summit is a high-level haircolor conference where individuals learn about the latest techniques and products. Our Co-owner/Stylist Connie Koehnke attended and was thrilled with the number and variety of classes available.
Connie says, “I saw things at the conference I have never seen before, and I have been a stylist for 30-years. The class I enjoyed the most was on the Balayage technique. The number of people teaching this hands-on class made it really easy to learn. (There were two teachers for each student!) I also enjoyed the haircolor forum, where a panel of haircolor experts were willing to answer questions the audience posed to them. The information was amazing. The best part of the conference was that it was not sponsored by any manufacturer, so all of the information was generic, basic hair color theory knowledge to use with any color line.”
“At the end of the Summit I was excited to get back to the Hair Connection in Neenah, to share the knowledge with the rest of our team. There were so many classes I would have enjoyed taking, but didn’t have the time. I would definitely recommend this Summit to any haircolorist.”

Our Hair Connection team will be going to Harbor House for a little “community give back” this evening (Wednesday, April 15), so our doors will be closing an hour early. The stylists will be giving free haircuts to the residents of Harbor House. This program is coordinated with Rose Ann Blair and the Mission and Outreach Committee for First Presbyterian Church in Neenah.
In addition to the haircuts we’ll be providing, our Aerial beauty supply representative, Stacey, has given us hair products to donate to the women of the shelter; and a wonderful client of ours, Mary Hook, baked some cookies for us to bring to the event. Our stylists at Hair Connection usually will do an event at a shelter once a year – volunteering their time and services. We appreciate all their efforts to give back to the community!
If you’d like to join us in support of this program, please visit: “How Can I Help Harbor House?“

The Hair Connection Promotes Breast Cancer Awareness
By · Comments
Chances are you know someone affected by breast cancer. Over 182,000 new cases of breast cancer will be diagnosed in American women this year, according to the American Cancer Society. When you add that number to the women who are already fighting this disease, the numbers are staggering. This October, The Hair Connection is joining with women around the country to promote breast cancer awareness and prevention.
Because breast cancer has affected staff and clientele, owners Jeanne Mykel and Connie Koehnke want to help spread awareness and contribute toward funding research. Getting involved to meet the needs of the community is a win – win for everyone. All through October, a pink donation box will be available in the lobby for customer donations, and 10% of all retail sold will go directly to the “Susan G. Komen for the Cure” campaign for breast cancer awareness.
During the promotion, customers will be draped in pink capes, offered pink lemonade, and for every sale of a pink flat iron, the manufacturer will contribute $10.00 toward breast cancer awareness. The Hair Connection will also donate $1.00 for every new client haircut and $5.00 for every hair color.
“I really like the pink flat iron idea,” said Susan Hamilton, parent of two teenage daughters and Race For The Cure participant for the last five years, “Women need to be aware of the choices they make everyday in their diet and exercise that contribute to their breast health in the long run. The flat irons are a great reminder. Eating right and staying in shape are two ways you can greatly reduce your risk of breast cancer, and I like the idea of starting every day thinking pink.”
Risk factors for breast cancer are more prevalent in Caucasian women, and are greatly increased with age, lack of physical activity, and the accompanying weight gain. Risk is increased again if a family member has been diagnosed with the disease. The staff of The Hair Connection would like you to learn more about what you can do if you’re supporting someone with breast cancer, or if you are concerned about your own breast health. Contact www.komen.org for more information. Together we can fight this disease.
